Refined in the art of barbering, Karyn Shields has over 30 years of experience and purchased the Red Rooster in 2016. Many of her years barbering were spent alongside her father, Nathan, at Man’s World Barbershop in downtown Eugene. Nathan had previously owned the Red Rooster in the late 1960s and then established and owned Man’s World for nearly 50 years. Karyn is proud to bring the Red Rooster back into the family and enjoys operating the shop and helping clients look great daily.
Nathan Shields, with five decades of barbering experience, has been pleasing shop patrons for some time. Nathan originally purchased the Red Rooster in 1968. A few years later he established Man’s World Barber Shop in downtown Eugene (also previously known as The Bushwacker and Hair World). In 1972 he sold the Red Rooster and focused his attention exclusively on the downtown shop. In 2016, at about the same time he sold the downtown shop, he helped facilitate his daughter Karyn’s purchase of the Red Rooster, bringing the shop back into the family after many years. Nathan enjoys occasionally filling in at the Red Rooster.
